VodafoneThree, the UK’s largest mobile operator following its £15 billion merger, is set to create 200 customer care roles in Belfast through its call centre partner Concentrix. The recruitment drive forms part of a wider strategy to bring support jobs back to the UK, complementing another 200 positions announced in Sheffield.
The new Belfast roles will involve specialist care and sales support for Vodafone and Three customers, building on Concentrix’s existing European customer engagement centre next to Lanyon Place train station. Recruitment and training have already commenced, reflecting the group’s commitment to enhancing customer service while strengthening regional employment.
Jon Shaw, from VodafoneThree’s consumer operations division, said: “We firmly believe in having care teams where our customers are, and that means having teams based across the UK. It’s an exciting time to join VodafoneThree as we build the UK’s best network and set new standards for customer care in the industry.”
Concentrix, a US-owned company, first entered Belfast in 2011 and invested around £14 million to redevelop the former Maysfield leisure complex into its European customer engagement centre. The Belfast expansion will reinforce VodafoneThree’s enterprise operations, while providing skilled employment opportunities in digital and customer service sectors.
The announcement has received government support, with the UK’s Minister for Investment, Lord Stockwood, commenting: “This is a major boost for our digital and tech sector, which will not only create over 400 jobs in Sheffield and Belfast but open up new opportunities for local communities and put more money in people’s pockets. Our modern Industrial Strategy is all about unleashing the potential of our cities and regions, so it’s great to see VodafoneThree investing and creating opportunity in every part of the country.”
