Ireland-headquartered professional services company Accenture has entered an agreement to acquire US-based Ookla, a global leader in network intelligence, competitive benchmarking, and customer experience analytics according to a company announcement.
By integrating Ookla's data products including Speedtest, Downdetector, Ekahau, and RootMetrics, Accenture will help communications service providers, hyperscalers, and enterprises optimise mission-critical Wi-Fi and 5G networks powering digital core operations. Network data now creates significant value across all sectors, with insights captured at network, device, and application layers essential for enhancing fraud prevention in banking, smart home analytics in utilities, and traffic optimisation in retail.
Julie Sweet, chair and CEO of Accenture, stated, "Modern networks have evolved from simple infrastructure into business-critical platforms. Without the ability to measure performance, organisations cannot optimise experience, revenue, or security."
Seattle-headquartered Ookla operates a portfolio of globally recognised connectivity brands. Deep technical visibility is essential for communications service providers to enhance autonomous network benchmarking and capital planning, for hyperscalers and cloud providers to ensure AI infrastructure and edge data centre resilience, and for enterprises to design and troubleshoot mission-critical private 5G and Wi-Fi networks using Ekahau's specialised hardware and software.
Manish Sharma, chief strategy and services officer at Accenture, noted, "With the Ookla portfolio, we will offer end-to-end network intelligence services essential for AI-based transformation. Speedtest and RootMetrics define the experience; Downdetector identifies incidents faster; and Ekahau drives digital workplace transformation through superior Wi-Fi."
Ookla's data platform is anchored by over 250 million consumer-initiated tests monthly, complemented by controlled drive, walk, and embedded testing options. Together, these elements deliver rich and resilient combination of quality of service, radio frequency signal data, and quality of experience insights driving better business outcomes.
