UK-based Lloyds Banking Group has signed a multi-year agreement with Microsoft to deploy Microsoft 365 E7, known as the AI Frontier Suite, across the organisation, positioning the bank as one of the first in the UK to implement the platform at full enterprise scale, according to Fintech Magazine.

The agreement builds on an existing deployment of 40,000 Microsoft 365 Copilot licences, with Microsoft reporting that 97% of licensed employees are actively using the tool. Lloyds is also expanding its adoption of GitHub Copilot, already in use by more than 10,000 engineers across the business.

Microsoft 365 E7 integrates Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent 365 into a unified platform, underpinned by Work IQ and supported by advanced security capabilities through Microsoft Defender, Intune and Purview. The suite is designed to accelerate agentic AI deployment within Lloyds' existing security, identity and governance infrastructure, ensuring autonomous capabilities operate within the regulatory constraints of the banking sector.

The bank intends to launch a colleague-facing assistant providing unified access to systems, information and insights, designed to reduce time spent on routine tasks and streamline complex internal workflows. Alongside this, Lloyds is building a suite of AI agents tailored to specific employee and customer journeys, overseen and orchestrated through Agent 365.

By automating routine system interactions, the initiative is intended to free staff to prioritise higher-value, customer-focused activity, with the bank planning to continuously enhance its journey-specific agents as usage data accumulates across its 28 million customer base.

Ron van Kemenade, Group Chief Operations Officer at Lloyds Banking Group, said: "We're embedding agentic AI across Lloyds Banking Group to make banking simpler, faster and more personalised for customers."

The deployment represents a significant step in Lloyds' broader AI transformation strategy, combining productivity gains for colleagues with more responsive, personalised experiences for customers at enterprise scale.
